The Roslin Gunpowder Mill, hidden in the Roslin Glen Country Park along the River Esk, is a fascinating place to photograph and explore. Powered by a waterwheel on the River Esk it first opened in 1801, and for over 150 years the factory was one of the largest employers in the region, providing gunpowder for the British troops from the Napoleonic Wars to WWII. Today most buildings are long gone, with remnants of stone walls and water canals covered in moss and vines
